Reiki is a Japanese technique for bio-energetic relaxation of tension and anxiety, which is administered by laying of the hands, allowing you to connect to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels
The History of Modern Reiki had its beginning in 1822 when Mikao Usui (Japanese Buddhist) undertook a long search of 28 years to find out how Buddha carried out his healing sessions. Mikao Usui Reiki sets out five principles to boost your Reiki practice:
- Today Only, I will trust.
- Today Only, I will work honestly.
- Today Only, I will accept my blessings.
- Today Only, I will have peace.
- Today Only, I will respect the rights of all life.
The phrase, "Today Only" tells us that we must live in the present (here and now), and not dwell in the past.
Mikao Usui studied many Buddhist groups, where he had the opportunity to learn different ancient languages of the East, which enabled him to study original texts. In 1850, Usui, while studying a biography of Buddha in the Tibetan monastery, believed to have rediscovered the healing keys, but did not know how to use them. Upon his return to Japan, Usui’s knowledge came in 21 days by using his mentor’s advice and meditation that helped him understand how to use these keys
"Reiki is administered by laying of the hands, allowing you to connect to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels "
There were many teachings in the art of Reiki Healing that Mikao Usui instructed from 1850-1883, and it was for this reason that before his death, Dr. Usui asked Hayashi (one of his students), to preserve his teachings, to extend this tradition, and to build the first Reiki clinic in Tokyo.
